Signing Off...
Its been a long semester and packed full of many late archy nights! Just wanted to say thanks for a great semester and have a good summer everyone! Catch you all next year jacinta xo
Inspiration
The landmark cliffs of jan juc and torquay beaches will hopefully influence the form of my design. I feel they communicate a protective and sheltered feeling that would be appropriate to the admin building whilst connecting with the coatal community. I also like the sleek feel demonstrated in the above render, which could amalgamate with the cliff inspiration to forman inteesting design.
The Admin Building
After dividing the masterplan into three I have been delegated the administration building to design. Below is the brief and some more specific site photos of the existing council building, which will be renovate into the administration building.
Masterplan Re-worked
After some feedback from our tutors we decided to re-work our masterplan before going into the final project. Major feedback concerned the response of our masterplan to the environment and environmental factors such as water, wind, sun etc. Above is a sketch of us mutilating our previous plan...
Site Visit
During our first site visit we uncovered an extremely windy site! We established that our design must sufficiently provide protection for the students from the harsh elements, particularly in the windy months, whilst maximise Northern orientation. We also decided to emphasise the entrance at the South end of the school to compensate for the traffic situation experienced on Grossman's Rd during peak pick-up/drop-off times. The existing council building will be kept to promote the sustainability fo the proposed development.
Project 2: Masterplanning
Our second project is to design a new senior wing for the existing torquay primary school in torquay. Our first task is to complete a site visit and masterplan our school design the same groups of three over the next couple of weeks! Will hopefully have some photos from our first site visit up soon.
